Maths

At Kirkland & Catterall St Helen's C.E. Primary School we follow the progression of learning for individual strands of the 2014 National Curriculum for mathematics. In EYFS we have updated our mathematics curriculum and teaching to meet the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 2021, and the guidance within Development Matters in order to support the children’s preparation for the National Curriculum in Year 1.

We teach a mastery approach to Mathematics, meaning that we provide our pupils with a range of opportunities to develop a deep and lasting understanding of mathematical procedures and concepts. Pupils are taught through whole-class interactive teaching, where the focus is on all pupils working together on the same lesson content at the same time, ensuring that all can master concepts before moving to the next part of the curriculum sequence.

At Kirkland & Catterall St Helen's CE Primary School we implement the White Rose scheme of work for mathematics.
