St Helen's School Charity Trust

The St. Helen's School Charity Trust are the owners of all of the school buildings and
school grounds with the exception of the outside area which was the old playing field. This area is
owned by Lancashire County Council.

In June 1990, the trust sold the ‘School House’ (next door to school) and the resulting funds were invested
by the trust. The trustees aim is to provide for the current generation and for the future generations of pupils at the school. With this aim in mind, the trust try to keep the capital figure in line with inflation. At the end of each financial year, any growth in income is made known to the school governors, who may then apply to the trust for either or both of the following:

  • In providing or assisting in the provision of such special benefits at the school of any kind not normally provided by the local authority as may from time to time be agreed between the school governors and the trustees
  • In otherwise promoting the education of persons who are pupils or former pupils of the school under 25 years of age and who are in need of financial assistance

Although funds may not be available every year, our school has benefited greatly from the trust. In May 2007, the trust purchased the playing field. More recently, the trust funded the upgrading of school IT equipment including iPads and also assisted with a contribution towards the EYFS outdoor play area.
